C.W. Smidt is a dystopian fantasy and romance author, diving into the thrilling world of indie publishing with stories that captivate and inspire.
From a young age, C.W. was enchanted by books, often sneaking reads during class—even after being seated by the teacher’s desk as a “deterrent” (spoiler: it didn’t work). Her passion for storytelling began with an elementary school project that sparked a lifelong love for creating fictional worlds.
When she’s not crafting her next tale or getting lost in a novel, C.W. enjoys spending quality time with her family and beloved dogs. Her guilty pleasures include wandering through stores with a cart full of “maybe” purchases, indulging in candles and cozy socks, and finding comfort in life’s little joys.
Her debut novel, Chaos and Curses, is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and all other major retailers; inviting readers into a world of magic, chaos, and romance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What made you want to write?
My grandmother used to read stories to me every night when I was a kid. You could say it sparked my passion for stories. But I didn’t actually start writing until I was in fourth grade. We were given a 1.5 page short story assignment. I wrote 10 pages.
What is your favorite book to read?
I don’t know if I can say I have a die hard favorite book, but I love romantacy.
Do you ever get writers block?
Everyone gets writers block. anyone who tells you any different is selling something. It’s all about how you get out of it once it begins. I have a few tried and true methods mentioned in my blog if you’re interested in learning more.
What’s the hardest part about being an author?
I always thought it was going to be the editing. Editing is hard, don’t get me wrong. But marketing, that’s the bane of my existence. Give me a manuscript and a red pen any day.
What inspires you to write?
In short, everything. The things I read, the people I meet, the foods I eat. I can be sitting in a completely white padded room (don’t ask me why it’s padded) and have a plot twist come smashing through my brain like a freight train. Then I can go days with nothing.
Have any other burning questions?
Ask me anything. I’m an opened book!
